People lie all the time.
We hide our innermost thoughts from the people who matter and blame it on what? Manners? Kindness? Sparing ourselves from humiliation?
We lie to ourselves and others constantly. We pretend not to care about someone whom we do care about, we pretend to love someone whom we don’t, we hide from the people we no longer want to associate with rather than confront them.
With all the innovations modern man has made in communication, I feel like we are communicating even less now.
How many people all over the world are cheating on their partners simply because they can’t bring themselves to say that they’re no longer happy in their relationship? Or spending hours with the cursor hovering over a name in their IM list and are too afraid to declare their love for that person? Or texting “I’m busy” or “Maybe another time” instead of “Your negative presence is toxic and I’d really rather not be around you until you learn to be more positive”? Or not letting someone know how much they appreciate them because that someone might think they’re being hit on? Or shutting others out because they’re afraid being friendly might be an invitation for them to be fresh?
We are all guilty of this, myself included. It just gets exhausting sometimes, all these mind-games. I wish we lived in a world where we could just openly say how we feel. It would prevent so much drama, heartache and misunderstanding.
