Ok I usually don’t rave over beauty products but this one is so good that I have to. I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Lumi Oil to tame my frizz for a while but according to my hairdresser, Philip, any kind of oil weighs hair down. It flattens waves and curls instead of enhancing them. He said curly hair will ALWAYS be frizzy so there’s no point fighting it, we should embrace it. 🙂
After my latest haircut, Philip told me to try any styling product that’s specifically made for curls. So I decided to pick something up at Watson’s today. Most of the curly hair products were so expensive! But then I looked at the bottom shelf and found this. I had no idea if this was good or not but since it was cheap I decided to give it a try just now.
IT IS SOOO GOOD. SERIOUSLY.
It’s called Monea Curl Defining Milk. It’s a hair lotion that gives you that piecey, just-got-out-of-bed-like-this (but still controlled) look. No need to blow dry, just put some in your hair while it’s damp (enough to coat most of your strands but no need to slather so much on; I poured about a peso-coin-sized amount on my hand), finger comb it through to the ends, scrunch it up to the roots in random sections, and let it air-dry into curly goodness. Very low-maintenance. Me likey.
See this?

That’s all natural, baby (and not even completely dry yet). It took all of 1 minute to style. No other product has managed to do this to my hair. I didn’t even need to twist my locks into ringlets like I usually do to make them curl properly.
It doesn’t feel gross and sticky like wax products do (although you will have to wash your hands after application), and it didn’t make my hair hard and crunchy like mousse products do. My hair isn’t weighed down at all. It feels light, bouncy and awesome. It smells nice too, and the scent is very subtle and shampoo-like (it smells strong when you sniff it in the bottle but not when it’s actually in your hair).
After using it, I found other product reviews online and most of them were good, even for permed curls.
THE LOWDOWN
Price: P99.00Â
Packaging: 200 mL sealed twist-cap bottle
Pros:
- Very affordable
- Natural-looking, tousled curls
- Easy to use, quick styling
- Tightly-sealed bottle
- Expiration date clearly marked
- Subtle scent
- No need for blow-drying
Cons:
- If you’re going for a uniform, curling-iron ringlet look, this probably isn’t the product for you. It doesn’t make your curls neat. It’s good for everyday use but probably not for formal occasions
- I don’t like having to pour the product out of the bottle. It would have made more sense to have a pump dispenser on top.
- If you use too much, your hair will get greasy. So use it sparingly!
I highly recommend this product to my curly-headed friends.Â
