It’s kind of nice being on a schedule now. Gone are the spontaneity and freedom of the last 3 years, having been freelance, but the stability and uniformity is a welcome change, as weird as it feels to say it.
I guess one of the reasons would be that most of my friends back home had regular jobs, which meant that even on my “free” days, I would just be lazing around at home and not doing anything.
Of course, the best part of not being on a schedule was that I could do anything at any time I pleased. I could make a complete mess of my bedroom because I knew that at any time I could take a whole day off just to clean and organize. I could decide to cook dinner on the spur of the moment and just drive to the grocery store to pick up ingredients. Plus, at home I didn’t have to clean, or do my laundry, or cook most of the time because Luz was there to do the housework. I could do my personal grooming such as nail-cutting and the like at 2pm or anytime I chose.
Not now, though. I realized pretty quickly that I would have to plan ahead if I wanted to keep life going smoothly. I work from Saturday to Thursday, 9:30 AM to 7 PM, and I have to do everything for myself. Not only that, but there are other girls in the house who have to take turns using the washing machine, and all the nights and weekends are taken. I thought at first that I could wake up an hour and a half before work since I live very near the office but I’ve decided that that isn’t enough time for my chores. And if I don’t keep my room organized I’m going to have to spend my entire, precious one-day weekend cleaning.
So I just drew up this schedule tonight to remind myself of how many things I have to do in the morning before work and hopefully putting it up on my blog is going to help reinforce it. That way maybe I won’t waste too much time doing useless things like I did back home in Cebu. Hehe.
7:00 AM – Wake up, read daily devotional, check eMails and FB updates
7:30 AM – Put load of laundry in washing machine in the bathroom
7:35 AM – Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner meals, pack lunch, refrigerate dinner
8:00 AM – Eat breakfast, wash up
8:15 AM – Shower, brush teeth, etc.
8:25 AM – Take laundry out of machine, hang to dry
8:30 AM – Iron outfit for the day
8:40 AM – Groom, get dressed, do makeup
9:15 AM – Leave for work, throw out garbage
9:30 AM – 7:00 PM – WORK
7:15 PM – Arrive home, put dry laundry into closet
7:20 PM – Heat up cold dinner
7:30 PM – Eat
7:40 PM – Wash up
7:50 PM – Clean room
8:00 PM – Shower, wash face, etc.
8:10 PM – Do whatever I want (blog, read, watch videos, etc.)
11:00 PM – Sleep
I think it’s a doable weekday schedule but it’s going to take some practice to get it down to a science. Some days I won’t have any laundry anyway and some days I’ll decide to cook enough for 4 or 5 meals so I won’t have to cook every morning. I hope I can stick to it!
