This is a public service announcement.
In anticipation of the occasion on the 14th of this month, married/spoken for friends and family of the victims of the affliction known as “Being Single” are advised to refrain from the following activities:
- Condescendingly assuring the victims that they will “find somebody”, regardless of their feelings toward their affliction
- Condescendingly telling the victims to “go out and have fun” to take their mind off of their affliction
- Actually, any condescension concerning their affliction.
- One-upping other couples’ dates and/or gifts
- Griping about how their S.O.’s efforts aren’t as grand or expensive as they expected
Accordingly, victims are advised to refrain from the following activities:
- Posting self-pitying “firing squad” status messages
- Having bitter “being single rocks” parties…you know, to show how little they care about VD
- Complaining about how this holiday is just an over-commercialized excuse to demand gifts and expensive dinners
All concerned parties ARE, however, encouraged to do the following:
- DO use the time to show the people you love that you care about them.
- DO focus on what you can do for another person rather than what other people, and the world in general, “owe” you
- DO have fun, be content with all your blessings and have a sense of humor about it all. Smile! 🙂
Happy love month, everyone!
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
